More voices are rising against the proposed government policy on regulating and streamlining operations of faith- based organisations.
The latest is from the International Centre for Religious Advocacy and Development, re-echoing the sentiments that the policy is being brought in a bad faith and should be stopped.
The Ministry of Ethics and Integrity is currently collecting views from communities across the country and religious leaders before the policy is implemented.
However, Wisdom Peter, the Director International Centre for Religious Advocacy and Development, the policy targets to gag the mushrooming born again churches, a claim the government has often downplayed.
He thus asks the president to intervene and stop implementation of this policy and instead advise that the existing laws are used to govern and streamline the operations of churches and faith-based organisations in the country.
This is the first time the government is coming up with a policy to govern operations of faith-based orgnaisations following public outcry over alleged manipulation by some religious and cult leaders
