Mukono municipality Member of Parliament Betty Nambooze has threatened to write to the Auditor General of Government requesting for an audit into the financial books of the Democratic Party.
She alleges that top party leaders have been embezzling funds.
Nambooze yesterday convened a members meeting in Mukono flanked by the Masaka municipality MP Mathias Mpuuga to discuss the party’s financial status.
She has cited a case where 700 million is said to have been released to a ghost consultancy company to come up with strategies on how to revive the party and gain popularity.
Addressing the same gathering, Mathias Mpuuga who was the chief guest urged DP members to stand up and fight the party’s poor leadership collectively.
