Anti-graft court to decide former minister Byandala’s fate

The Head of the Anti-Corruption Court, Justice Lawrence Gidudu is today expected to rule on whether former works Minister Abraham Byandala and six others have a corruption case to answer or not, for the role they allegedly played in the Mukono- Katosi road Saga.
IGG’s prosecution led by Sarah Birungi states that the accused caused government a loss of over 24.7billion shillings that was meant for the upgrade of the said road, and invited court to put each accused person on his defense.
Prosecution separately accuses Byandala of disobeying the Inspectorate of General of Government’s directives to stop the said road works which led to the signing of a contract between Eutaw and UNRA.
Byandala is jointly charged with four former Uganda National Roads Authority officials Berunado Ssebbugga, Joe Ssemugooma, Wilberforce Senjako and Marvin Baryaruha.
Others are city businessman Apollo Senkeeto and a former Housing Finance Bank official, Isaac Mugote.
