Members of Parliament from the ruling National Resistance Movement have challenged the planned move by the NRM caucus to table a bill on the removal of the presidential age limit.
MPs Theodore Ssekikubo, Muhammed Nsereko, Banabas Tinkasimire, Okot Ogong, Wilfred Niwagaba and John Baptist Nambashe say there are more pressing issues affecting the citizens than the age limit which violates the constitution.
The group was this afternoon addressing a news conference at parliament, where it has called for president Yoweri Museveni’s peaceful and voluntary retirement.
The NRM caucus yesterday resolved, and mandated Rapheal Magyezi to table the private members bill on the removal of the presidential age limit, drawing fierce criticism from various circles.
