Police say they have arrested another terror suspect, a one Twaha Ssegujja aka Kisembo Joseph, 37, a resident of Nakuwadde village, Nakabugo Parish in Wakiso District.
While addressing journalists at Naguru police headquarters, Fred Enanga, the police publicist said that they have established that the suspect who hails from Kanyamiyaga village, Nyamiti parish, Kagadi district was recruited into the ADF rebel groups in 2018.
Enanga says at the time of his arrest, he was disguising as a bodaboda rider also running a shop at Nakuwadde village, Nakabugo Parish in Wakiso district that he was renting from a one Swaleh Abubaker.
Upon arrest, the joint security task team recovered an AK47 from DRC, a grenade bomb concealed in a laptop bag, 9 pairs of green gumboots, 5 airtel lines and two Itel phones, 389 detonating roads, 3 suspected explosive boosters, 2 bags of ammunition nitrate packed in sugar sacks, and 7 tins of chemical fluids.
The suspect reportedly was commanded by one Meddie Nkalubo, aka Benjamin, aka Abibaker Saleh aka Isaac, who is still on the run and is suspected to be in South Africa or Zambia.
Last week, a one Isma Kiyemba, a 24-year-old, suspected terrorist and member of the ADF terror cell in Lweza was arrested, and an assortment of terror related exhibits were recovered.
Police are optimistic that two sets of recoveries and arrests within the week are a big blow to the ADF terror cells.
Today marks 20 days since the deadly suicide attacks at CPS and Parliament Avenue and police have urged members of the public to stay vigilant as the terror threat is still on.
