Ankole Kingdom has announced its heir to the throne, who is now Charles Rwebishengye Barigye.

The new King is a 20-year old student of Social Work and Social Administration at Uganda Christian University Mukono.

Prince Rwebishengye was named in the will of his deceased father, who passed away last week. He is the second son to the late Price John Patrick Barigye who will be laid to test this Sunday.

The kingdom’s Prime Minister Willy Katatumba says the deceased’s will, in which the heir was named was opened last evening in the presence of the royal family.

He says the deceased had updated the will on 7th August this year, clearly stating his wishes.

The will also mentioned 5 people who are to act as executioners of the will who include Enock Rukidi, Enos Tumusiime, Willy Katatumba, General David Tinyefuza and one of his daughters Princess Rosemary Kirungi.

Prime Minister Willy Katatumba says the royal tombs where the deceased is to be laid to rest are being renovated at a cost of 70 million shillings.

The Late Prince Barigye died at 71 after battling kidnbey complications for years.

He however died before fulfilling his wish to take over his throne, which he was denied.
