Leaders in Adjumani district are suspicious about conflicting statements from government ministers.
This follows lands minister Betty Amongi dismissing an earlier statement by her junior minister Persis Namuganza that cabinet had resolved to have Zoka forest degazeted for sugarcane growing.
Speaking to Kfm Adjumani Town council chairman Patrick Tandrupasi says the contradictions by the ministers are raising eyebrows among locals.
He now calls for a formal commitment by government to protect the forest beyond the latest minister’s statement.
