Private sector players in the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene sector have called on government to consider increasing the sector  budget.

Speaking at a stakeholders’ engagement in Kampala, the chairperson of Uganda Water and Sanitation Network (UWASNET) Jeremiah Nyaga said government must increase the sector funding to meet its ever growing needs.

He proposes a 9 fold addition to the current sector budget for the next 13 years if it is to be transformed and meet the desired targets.

The overall objective of the half day meeting is to enable the WASH and Environment CSOs understand the NDPIII, its new programmatic modalities, its implications on their way of the working and what ministries have so far done.
