City lawyer Jude Mbabali has dragged the Justice Steven Kavuma to High Court over delays in the hearing of a case filed against the Vice President Edward Kiwanuka Sekandi at the constitutional court.
Mbabali claims that on June 20th 2012 he filed a petition challenging Sekandi’s election as Bukoto Central MP but to date the case has never been fixed for hearing.
He contends that pre -trial proceedings of his case were conducted on May 20th 2013 and the file was handed over to Justice Kavuma for allocation to a panel of five judges.
Mbabali claims he has never been given reasons
for not fixing a hearing date despite numerous requests in writing and yet many other constitutional petitions filed much later than his have been heard and disposed of.
He is now asking the High Court to ensure the hearing date fixed within seven days.
