Government is asked to develop a policy on palliative care services.
The country director of the Palliative Care Association of Uganda Rose Kiwanuka says due to lack of a policy, only 10% of the patients in critical pain get access to palliative care services.
Kiwanuka says many patients mostly those suffering from cancer and HIV end up dying because a number of health workers do not provide such services.
She says once the policy is in place all health workers will have an obligation of providing palliative care to all those who need it.
