90 Ugandans stranded abroad

A total of 90 Ugandans trafficked abroad are still stranded.

According to the latest police annual crime report, many Ugandans majority of whom are women are trafficked to countries like Oman, Thailand and Saudi Arabia while others are taken to unknown destinations.

The report shows that majority of the victims are transported from the Kampala Metropolitan Area, Wakiso, Mukono and Mbarara among other districts.

According to the CID director Grace Akullo, although many still stranded over 140 have been rescued.

Akullo says the existence of coordinated criminal rackets in the East African Region and the slow pace of securing bilateral labor agreements with the key countries in the Middle East has made rescue efforts futile.
