600 Voter names to be deleted

admin | August 26, 2015

Names of about 600 voters in Koboko are to be deleted ahead of the 2016 elections.

The Electoral Commission District Registrar, Geoffrey Feta, says these are either dead or non-Ugandans.

Koboko being at the borders of South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo, non-Ugandan citizens have taken the advantage to register for voting and acquisition of the national Identification Card.

Feta says about 78,000 voters had been registered to participate in the 2016 elections but the number is likely to reduce following the completion of voter register cleanup exercise.

The district has 135 polling stations and more are likely to be created with the recent approval of new counties by parliament.
