More than 300 learning institutions among them; Primary, Secondary and Technical Institutions have been destroyed by strong winds and hailstorms in six months across the whole country.

The Minister for Relief, Disaster Preparedness and Refugees, Eng. Hillary Onek says that the Education and infrastructure sector have been devastatingly affected by disaster which the country experienced since last year.

He says that some of the structures in these schools/institutions have already been found compromised as a result of poor or lack of regular maintenance because of budgetary constraint.

He asked the education ministry to use the Capital Development Budget to renovate some of these schools.

He also notes that the Works and Transport has not been spared by the disaster since a total of 2,603 District roads require major works as well as 157 small to medium sized bridges.
