Government has withdrawn charges against 5 suspects of the July 11th bomb blasts, leaving 14 on trial.
The 5 who have been set free include Mohammed Adali Abdul, Dr. Ismail Kalule, Ismail Kagwa Walusimbi, Kalif Abdi Mohammed and Kenyan human rights activist Ali Amin Kimathi.
The state has also withdrawn terrorism and murder charges against Mohammed Mugisha and insistituted conspiracy to commit terrorism.
The 14 suspects face trial over the bombings placed at the Kyadongo Rugby Grounds and Ethiopian Village Restuarant that left at least 86 people dead.
The charges they face include terrorism,murder and attempted murder.
The case is before Justice Owiny Dollo and court is now in session.
Meanwhile,
Security has been tightened at the High Court where the trial of the terror suspects kicked off this morning.
Several roads leading to the court have been temporary blocked with hundreds of anti terrorism squad officers seen patrolling the area.
Access to the court premises is limited with journalists only allowed access to a tent that has been erected outside.
Screens have been set up outside the court from which journalists and the public are following the proceedings.
