The ministry of health has revealed that more than 3 Million Ugandans are estimated to be infected with the Chronic Hepatitis B virus.
The revelation was made by the health minister Dr Ondoa Christine while presenting a statement to parliament on the status of the disease in the country.
Hon Ondoa also noted that the highest burden is in Northern Uganda with between 20 to 25% of the population affected adding that 7 people have so far died of the virus in Kitgum and Lira since July this year.
Hon Ondoa says the ministry has among other interventions already procured Hepatitis B vaccines to be distributed to all districts for vaccination of health workers.
The minister assured parliament that government is committed to ensuring that the spread of the virus is curbed.
