A total of 365 medals are expected to be given out during this year’s 28th Heroes day celebrations.

Addressing the media, the minister for the Presidency Esther Mbayo said the celebrations will take place in Luweero Zirobwe sub county St Augustine Parish grounds.

She says Zirobwe has been chosen for the celebrations because of its significant contribution during the NRM struggle to come to power in 1986.

231 of these medals will be awarded to civilians and the rest will be given to security officials.

Mbayo adds that a monument has been built at  thevenue of the celebrations to as a gesture to the people of Luweero who sacrificed their lives and property to build the nation.

This year’s Heroes day will run under the theme “Self Sacrifice is the Singular Heroic Pillar in Nation Building”.
