US ambassador makes appeal to support Uganda’s efforts in hosting refugees.

The international community has been challenged to do more to support Uganda’s efforts in hosting refugees.

The call is made by the US ambassador to Uganda H.E Deborah Malac as the country continues to register an influx of refugees with the figure now standing at over 1.6m.

Ambassador Malac says while US remains the single country with the largest humanitarian assistance globally, it cannot continue to bear the burden alone.

She challenges other countries to come in and offer support to Uganda’s efforts to resettle thousands of refugees that have been displaced by conflict.

This comes as the country prepares to host the refugee solidarity summit later this week.
