The Uganda national football team the Cranes kick start to kick their qualification campaign today, visiting neighbors Kenya at Nyayo national stadium at 4 pm.
The qualification campaign in Africa started in September 2019 with the first round where 28 lower-ranked nations faced off to determine the 14 who joined this stage including Rwanda.
In this second round, a total of 40 teams were pitted in 10 groups (A-J) consisting of 4 teams each.
Uganda is in group E with Kenya, Mali, and Rwanda.
The top ten winners will face-off at the third round on a home and away basis where the five winners will qualify for the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar.
Most foreign-based players were not summoned for the Cranes’ games against Kenya and Mali but the coach Multin Sredejovich Micho is confident the available players will give their best for positive results.
Uganda will face Mali on Monday, September 6th at St Mary’s Stadium Kitende.
