Wildlife lovers and conservationists tomorrow stream to Uganda wildlife Education Centre to join in celebrations of Zakayo’s birthday.
Zakayo, the oldest Chimpanzee at UWEC commonly known as Entebbe zoo will be turning 54 this Friday.
On 10th June, 1964 Zakayo was rescued from Semliki National Park in Bundibugyo and was estimated to be under 1 year old but was not surrendered to the Zoo until 1976 where he was the alpha male (Leader) from the 70s to 2011.
Speaking to Kfm the Centre’s outreach officer Francis Ruhinirwa who is coordinating the celebration said the minister for education and sports Janet Museveni is expected as the chief guest at the celebration.
