The ministry of health has widened on the priority groups of people getting vaccinated against covid19 as the country prepares itself ahead of an anticipated second wave of the pandemic.
Giving technical updates on the ongoing covid19 vaccination exercise, Dr Alfred Driwale, the assistant commissioner of vaccines, and immunization said they have now accelerated the uptake of the vaccine to anybody aged 18 years and above who has other underlying health conditions (comorbidities).
Dr Driwale says priority groups are chosen based on the risk of infection, severe disease, and death since the country has scarce doses of the vaccine to immunize everyone.
He adds that they have also allowed all health center three’s to start vaccinating for covid19 to increase the vaccine deployment in the country.
Dr Driwale meanwhile says they have relaxed conditions for vaccination to ease access to the vaccine.
