Mbale: More than 17000 National Identity cards [IDS] have not been collected from various centres in Mbale District.
The district IT officer, National Identification and Registration Authority George Nyanzi has said that, out of 242, 000 IDs of people registered in Mbale in 2014-2015, 225000 IDs have been so far collected .
The Project- is being implemented by the Ministry of internal affairs and other sector ministries.
He says Most of the uncollected IDs are for students, police officers who registered from Mbale but were transferred to other stations.
Pamela Watuwa the Mbale deputy Resident district commissioner has advised the public to be vigilant and self-driven when it comes to very important documents like IDs.
Watuwa further urged all residents of Mbale who haven’t picked their national identification cards to go collect them because soon they are to use them while registering their children.
