10 suspects from a Katwe criminal gang arrested

Police in Katwe have arrested 10 suspects belonging a criminal gang that has reportedly been operating in areas to include Masajja, Makindye-Sabagabo in Wakiso during an intelligence-led operation yesterday evening.
Luke Oweyosigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan deputy police spokesperson says the gang dubbed ‘Call Call’ conmen, has reportedly been defrauding people using mobile phones by calling them and claiming that they have won prizes or sending fake mobile money messages.
The same group has been breaking into people’s houses and stealing household property.
During the operation, suspected stolen items to include three television sets, music systems, machetes and government stores were recovered.
Police says 9 people, including their commander, have been arrested and the operation is still on to crackdown crime.
