The Uganda Football Referees Association has deregistered 10 referees for presiding over the Bell Super League games last weekend.
The super league was suspended over failure to comply with rules set by the national football governing body, FUFA.
The association’s chairman Ali Waiswa says the referees exhibited indiscipline and are now banned from participating in any soccer activities in the country and elsewhere.
The banned referees include Mohammed Dakaba, Masana Kalid, Kalule Kasujja and Mulima Sulaiman. The others are Asuman Kabuye, Charles Nsereko, John Bosco Katunze and Abubaker Kemaligwe, among others.
The same referees are also accused of presiding over the Super League in September last year before its activities were sanctioned by FUFA.
They are said to have written apologies over the September incident but repeated the same mistake last weekend.
14 other referees who participated in the September League have been suspended.
The referees Association has issued a strong warning to other referees that the same fate awaits them if they go ahead to participate in the Super League before it’s sanctioned by FUFA.
