10 arrested at city carnival

Reporter | October 9, 2017

The police says only 10 people have been arrested for allegedly engaging in theft at the Kampala Capital City festival yesterday.

Kampala Metropolitan police commander, Frank Mwesigwa, has confirmed that the suspects are being detained at Kampala Central Police Station for involving in petty crime such wallet and phone snatching.

Mwesigwa has however dismissed reports that three police buses each with carrying capacity of 68 passengers had ferried the suspects to the infamous Naggalama police station in Mukono district.

Last year’s festival saw 200 people detained at CPS and Jinja Road police stations.

Police say they were yet to register cases of children and adults disappearances like it was the case during last year’s festival.
