CCEDU Kaheru Bows Out

The National Coordinator of the Citizens’ Coalition for Electoral Democracy (CCEDU) in Uganda, Crispin Kaheru has resigned. In a letter dated 11th September to the coalition chairperson Miria Matembe, Kaheru stated his position at resigning but does not however state the reason for his resignation from a position. A position he has held for 9 years. The letter states that he will be resigning from his position with effect from Friday 11th October 2019. Kaheru adds that he hopes that CCEDU remains an independent and objective player and retains the confidence of the citizens of Uganda despite the pressures that characterize the current political terrain. Sitting volleyball team needs Shs100m for Morocco trip

KAMPALA. The national men’s sitting volleyball team is likely to skip next week’s World Cup qualifiers in Morocco due to lack of funding. The physically challenged team, which has been training at Lugogo for the last two months, needs Shs100m to travel to North Africa for the event due April 14 to 18. “It will be very unfair for the team to miss the qualifiers after all this hard work,” Uganda National Sitting Volleyball chairman, Ali Mukasa, told Daily Monitor. “We don’t know where to turn to now that government tells us there is no money.” A 16-man team has already been named for the event. Wokorach to undergo the knife, again

Rugby. The Heathens player has been playing with metal plates in his right leg. KAMPALA. Thirteen months after breaking his leg in a horrific injury during the Nile Special Super 8 semifinal against G4S Pirates, Heathens’ Phillip Wokorach is yet to recover fully. Wokorach made a comeback in January but has been playing with metal plates in his right leg. He has also been training with the national 7s side in preparation for the July 23-August 3 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland. Tomorrow, the 21-year-old will undergo surgery at International  Hospital Kampala to have the metals extracted. Ministry investigates athletics sex scandal

As of now it’s just news of commissioned inquiries but with little, if any, headways since Daily Monitor broke the story of female athletes allegedly being sexually abused by an unnamed male national team coach KAMPALA. The Ministry of Education and Sports have sent one of their commissioners to Kapchorwa to investigate the sex scandal that has rocked Uganda’s athletics for the past one month. The probe, sanctioned by Education Minister Jessica Alupo, will see assistant commissioner Sammy Odongo camp in Kapchorwa from Thursday till Sunday. While there, he will meet female runners who accused a male national coach of sexually harassing them during a training camp in Bukwo last month. The accused coach works for Uganda Police while …
