The Vice president Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi has launched the online declaration of incomes and assets by public officials in Masaka with a call to the public to join the fight against corruption.
The Vice president launched the system at Masaka Secondary school during a function attended by public officials and district leaders and officials from the office of the Inspector General of Government (IGG).
He says that the general public should actively participate in the fight against corruption because they are the most affected when public resources are misappropriated since it affects service delivery.
Ssekandi also applauded the office of Inspector General of Government for fighting corruption saying that government is ready to provide further support for the same.
The IGG Irene Mulyagonja says that Declaration of income, assets, and liabilities by leaders is a mitigation measure in fight against corruption as it may expose leaders who have illegally acquired wealth .
She says that they decided to come up with the new system because many people were handing in forms with missing information and some gaps.
