PLE Results out

Pupils in rural areas such as these performed poorly

PLE results have been released this morning, showing an improvement in performance.

88.2% of candidates passed in 2012 compared to 86.6% in 2011.

English was the best performed subject, followed by SST and then science. Maths was worst performed subject

The best performing Municipalities

These include Fort portal municipality with a 0.1% failure rate, Ntungamo 0.2%, Rukungiri 0.2%, Mbarara 0.3%, Entebbe 0.8%, Kabale 0.8%, Jinja 0.9%, Kaberamaido 1.2%, Rubirizi 1.3%.

Districts with the highest failure rate

The worst performing districts are Luuka with a 32.1% failure rate, Kween 30.5%

Namutumba 28.3%, Bukwo% 27.7%, Iganga 25.2%, Bulambuli 25.2%, Kalilo 24.6%, Kamuli 24.2%, Manafwa 23.9% and Kayunga 23.6%


Results of 1, 603 pupils have been withheld across the country.

The affected students are from the districts of Wakiso, with schools including St Charles Lwanga Primary School with 163 pupils affected, Kibiri church of Uganda Primary School where 98,  Norah Junior School 25.

Others are from Luwero District, including 77 pupils from Bombo Mixed Primary school,  1 from Lusenke Church of Ug Primary School, Busiika Primary School 36,

Ananonya orthodox 1, Zirobwe Primary School 150 and St Matia Mulumba Primary School 1

In Iganga, results have been with held from one pupil at Bukoona Primary School and another at Kasokoso Primary School.

In Kabarole, the results of 6 pupils of Nyabuhara Primary School  have been withheld, 5 from Arigongo Primary School and 6 from Nyamisingiri Primary School.

In Kamuli, results of 25 pupils of Namisambya Primary School have been with held and another 14 from Kitayunjwa Primary School.

In Kiboga, results of one pupil from St Jude Kyisanda have been withheld, while in Kisoro, the results of 43 from Nyamirembe Primary School have been with held.

Others are Lumule Primary School in Kitgum district and Ngero Primary School from Kumi and St. Mary Church of Uganda Primary School in Kyenjonjo 94.

In Luwero, Luwero Primary School has results of 163 candidates withheld, while in Kawempe, Kyeyagalile Primary School was affected.
