Parliament maintains a tax exemption on their allowances

 By Moses Kyeyune

Members of parliament have this evening overwhelmingly voted to maintain a tax exemption on their allowances.

The matter on tax exemption which has been a topic of debate has seen members from across the political divide speak with a common voice to accept changes in the Income Tax (amendment) Bill 2016, that President Museveni recently refused to sign.

The bill which has been recommitted has been presented to the floor by Henry Musazi the Chairperson for Parliament’s committee on Finance, before it was unanimously supported.
