Parliament has this afternoon resolved to set up a seven member committee to investigate alleged fraud and mismanagement in Uganda Telecom.
The House which charged after hearing several anomalies at the national telecommunications after they were exposed by Buduadiri West MP Nathan Nandala Mafabi also imposed travel bans to top managers and members of board, to stop them from fleeing litigation.
Mafabi’s investigation which the Speaker Rebecca Kadaga has hailed has important to tax payers highlight illegal change of management, high debt levels unpaid dues of over 100 billion to Uganda Revenue Authority, National Social Security Fund and other institutions.
Mafabi has also highlighted illegal sale f company land and property.
The committee whose membership has not been made public will have to report to parliament in two months.
