Parliament has designated the committee on Commissions, State Authorities and Statutory Enterprises chaired by Bugweri County MP Abdul Katuntu to head the probe into the 6 billion oil handshake saga.
The Committee will investigate whether Uganda Public Service Standing Orders were abused by the 42 officials who demanded for a reward after winning two separate cases against Heritage Oil and Gas Company and Tullow Oil.
The committee has been tasked to study the matter including the role of each beneficiary in the tax gains case and report to parliament within two weeks.
Speaker Rebecca Kadaga says the COSASE has been chosen because it has been able to recover tax payers’ money in fake road deals in the last few months.
