The newly appointed electoral commission members are expected to take oath of office today before the Chief Justice Bart Katureebe.
Late last year parliament approved seven presidential appointees to be members of the commission. These are Justice Simon Byabakama, who was appointed the commission chairperson to be deputized by Hajjati Aisha Lubega.
Others are Peter Emorut, Nathaline Etomaru, Steven Tashobya, Mustapha Kigozi, Justin Mugabi and Prof. George Piwang.
Speaking to kfm, the judiciary spokesperson Solomon Muyita said the officials will take oath at 9am before the chief justice to officially start their duties.
The team is replacing Dr Badru Kiggundu’s who ran the commission for 14 years.
