Museveni opens civil service college in Jinja

The first civil service college is set to open in Jinja today.

The college to be commissioned by President Yoweri Museveni is expected to provide quality in-service training and support public policy research and innovations.

The State Minister for Public Service Sezi Mbaguta says the establishment of the college was prompted by the numerous loopholes in the public sector such as corruption, poor service delivery and incompetence of some civil servants.

Mbaguta says the ministry is also designing a system to make it mandatory for all civil servants to undergo training at the college.

Meanwhile, President Museveni is also expected to open the 30 billion Jinja central market amid protests from a section of vendors. The vendors accuse the contractor of doing shoddy work.
