Makerere University Council meets today to address the latest strike by the academic staff.
The Council called an emergency meeting after members of Makerere University Academic Staff Association laid down their tools on Tuesday over their cumulative incentive arrears amounting to Sh28 billion.
The university spokesperson Rita Namisango admits that both the administrative and support staff have not received their incentives since February 2016 due to financial constraints faced by the institution.
She says that today’s meeting is intended to lay strategies for amicable solutions to the now chronic problem.
Meanwhile, students have threatened to strike if the lecturers do not return to work today.
