Members of Parliament on the Presidential Affairs Committee have been questioning Kampala Minister, Beti Olive Kamya and city businessman, Hamis Kiggundu over their alleged involvement in the demolition of Park Yard Market.
The market which was demolished on March 1 2017 left hundreds of traders stranded causing uproar with many accusing government of being inconsiderate to the urban poor, something Parliament found worth probing.
The committee’s outgoing deputy chairperson, Susan Amero who is the Woman MP representing Amuriat District says they also sought to know the steps taken by the Ministry of Kampala and KCCA in settling the evicted traders.
The Committee on Presidential Affairs is mandated among others to oversee the activities of KCCA among others.
