Mps makes fresh demands for vehicles

Sections of law makers are concerned with the delay by parliament to hand them their cash meant for vehicles after a long period of waiting.

Margaret Mbeiza, the Kaliro district Woman MP put the Deputy Speaker of Parliament Jacob Oulanyah on spot last evening asking him to explain the fate of members’ vehicles.

Mbeiza said she was speaking on behalf of many others who shared similar sentiments.

However, Mr Oulanyah referred the law maker to the Parliamentary Commission which handles such matters.

The Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga announced two months ago that law makers would receive their facilitation for vehicles by October, now close to a week running.

There has been wide spread public criticism of Parliament’s heavy expenditure after media reports indicated that over 86 billion shillings would be spent on MPs vehicles alone.
