The minister of Kampala hon Betty Kamya has directed all street vendors in Kampala to vacate the street as action is to be taken forthwith.
Addressing the media this afternoon at the Uganda media center the minister explained that Kampala capital city authority is likely to lose 50b shs up from the last year’s 87b with the current increased illegal vending activities in the city.
She says this directive is a direct response to the public outcry is who have continuously complained about grave status of trade disorder which has culminated into traffic congestion, noise pollution, and indiscriminate parking unfair trade practices and trade competition.
She says Kampala has 1800 vendors by kCCA registered and most of them whom are not traders from within Kampala.
Today afternoon traders under their umbrella Kampala City Traders Association embarked on patrolling of the city streets to peacefully clear all vendors.
