Matembe angry over Ant-Porn Bill

Fr Lokodo

The passing of the Anti-Pornography bill has drawn outrage from women rights activists.

The new piece of legislation passed by parliament yesterday, seeks to among other things ban wearing of miniskirts and further clarify on the offence of pornography in Uganda’s laws.

However, the former ethics and integrity minister Miria Matembe says the law is ill intentioned and targets women unfairly

Some MPs too have complained that the bills definition of pornography was too broad and that it went against Uganda’s tradition of being tolerant of cultural diversity.

However, the current ethics minister Fr. Simon Lokodo has often defended the bill saying it is only meant to strengthen the country’s moral fibre.
