By Damali Mukhaye:
Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago is demanding for an apology from police for allegedly manhandling him as he was arrested from his home at Wakalinga, Rubaga Division.
According to Lukwago, police officers besieged his home yesterday, battered him and tore his clothes, which he says was degrading for his image as an elected leader of Kampala.
He accuses the police of raiding his office and that of his deputy at city hall without a search warrant.
Lukwago says he has now written to the Attorney General demanding an apology and compensation for the damage they caused him or he takes them to court.
Lukwago and several other opposition leaders were yesterday arrested on suspicion that they were planning to take part in the anti-age limit protests.
