Lord Mayor hits back at Kampala minister over law that seeks to clip his wings

By Shamim Natebwa

Kampala lord mayor Erias Lukwago has advised the Minister for Kampala to focus on matters concerning development rather than governance law aimed at scraping the lord mayor’s power.

Lukwago says that most of the civil works at Kampala Capital City Authority has been stalled because of government’s failure to honour its obligation of compensating the project-affected people which is 10% of the project cost.

He cites the Bakuli Nakulabye Kasubi road whose construction deadline was March this year, but failure to raise compensation money has stalled the project.
