The Leader of Opposition in Parliament Winfred Kiiza has described as a treasonous act the decision by the police chief to order the intrusion of chambers by security personnel who arrested some of the suspended MPs.
On Wednesday afternoon, the parliamentary chambers turned into a boxing ring as suspended MPs battled plain clothed security officers deployed to throw them out after Speaker Rebecca Kadaga ordered them out of three sittings for violating rules the previous day.
Addressing a news conference at Kasenyi landing site in the Entebbe on Thursday, Kayihura said he commanded the arrest of the members of Parliament and had nothing to apologise for.
However, Kiiza tells Sunday Monitor that was wrong for such a senior police officer to brag about commanding an attack on parliament to humiliate, honorable members who were defending
the constitution.
More details of this story are in the Sunday Monitor.
