Health experts want Parliament to enact a law to regulate the use of antibiotics in the country.
The president of the Uganda National Academy of sciences Prof. Nelson Sewankambo says the reckless use of antibiotic drugs has led to an increase in antibiotic resistance in the population.
He argues that a legal framework will limit over-the counter purchases of antibiotics and encourage positive health seeking behavior among patients.
He has been addressing health experts at an ongoing national conference on antimicrobial resistance in Mbale.
