Karamoja region forms peace committee

Authorities in Karamoja sub- region have resolved to establish peace committee at all leadership levels to encounter security concerns.

This comes at the time when tribes like Toposa from south Sudan, Turkana and Pokoti are stealing cattle from Uganda as well as facilitating cross boarder small arms trafficking.

According to Amudat district resident’s commissioner Shaban Kacemeti, in the two days meeting taking place in Moroto district, leaders have resolved to have committees that will help to alert police if such incidences happen.

This meeting attracted regional authorities including, police and army commanders, leaders from all seven districts, and police commissioners from Kenya and south Sudan.
