IGG extends wealth declaration deadline

The Inspector General of Government has extended the deadline for civil servants to declare their wealth.

The deadline for the declaration as per the Leadership Code fell today, 31th March 2011.

The IGG Rapheal Bakku has now extended the deadline to 30th April 2011.

Bakku has told KFM that the law allows his office the discretion to extend the deadline to give chance to those who have not complied with the directive .

Baku says several civil servants have turned for the exercise today and those still expected include, the president Vice President, 20 members of parliament, political party leaders, and heads of tertiary institutions.

He adds that unlike the earlier exercises, the inspectorate has received overwhelming response from the public servants with 15,000 out of the targeted 20,000 already covered.
