The minister of state for Veteran Affairs Major Bright Rwamirama is seeking cabinet approval for a loan to clear the huge debt of the former service men stretching from colonial rule to date.
According to Rwamirama, government requires 536 billion shillings to clear this long outstanding debt for the former army servicemen starting from the past regimes.
While appearing in Human Rights committee, he explained that currently the ministry of defense does not have funds to offset this huge burden, thus parliament must authorize government to borrow, if this problem is to be solved.
