Government engineers faulted on shoddy work

Ngora Resident District Commissioner has castigated government engineers for failing to expose contractors involved in substandard public works.

John Henry Ariong mostly blamed those supervising projects under the Northern Uganda Social Action Fund for causing government losses in shoddy constructions.

He said staff houses for Mukura Health Center III and Agogomit Primary School, each costing an estimated shs100 million, had been declared unworthy and would not be received from the respective contractors.

The NUSAF, a multi-billion initiative funded with support from World Bank had been implemented mostly in the war-torn north and east until recently when government rolled it out to include parts of Luwero triangle and the Elgon zone.
