The Ministry of Gender, Labor and Social Development is set to spend Shs.1.1 billion to organize the upcoming 3rd edition of the Jumuiya ya Afrika Mashariki Utamaduni Festival (JAMAFEST) slated to take place this September.
Speaking to Kfm, the Director for Gender, Culture and Community Development in the ministry Jennie Mpajji, said the money is meant to fully cater for costs of venues for exhibitions, security, and transportation within the country.
According to Mpajji, JAMAFEST will include children’s performances, numerous cultural games and dances, poems, among other activities.
The event which runs from 7th – 15th of September is expected to attract participants from the six East African Nations including Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, South Sudan and Uganda.
