The ministry of education has been criticized for dropping the teaching of 10 subjects in secondary school including Kiswahili.
According to our sister paper Daily Monitor, the Uganda National Examination Board will not be examining Fasihi ya Kiswahili, political education, additional mathematics, health education among others subjects on grounds that the National Curriculum Development Center has directed that they are dropped.
Speaking to KFM, Chief Executive Officer at Coalition for Uganda Private Schools, Patrick Kaboyo says the dropping of Swahili as a subject puts Uganda at a disadvantage especially at such a time when the push for a common language for the regional integration agenda is at its peak.
He has warned of dire consequences for the country as a result of this decision.
