The electoral commission has been hailed for scoring high in respect to planning for general elections.
The report card of the outgoing electoral commission by the Citizens Coalition for electoral Democracy CCEDU applauds the commission for introducing roadmaps and involving stakeholders in the development of the same.
The report also commends the commission for introducing new technology in the recent general polls that saw the use of the biometric voter verification technology across the country, which achieved over 90% success rate.
The Organisation’s coordinator Crispy Kaheru however says the fact that it has consistently been faltered for not conducting adequate voter education lessens its scores.
He says the new commission should work to address the identified challenges hindering delivery of free and fair elections in addition to improving its perception and image in the electoral process
