EALA Members of Parliament support Electronic Transaction bill

Members of the East African Legislative assembly have overwhelmingly supported a motion for introduction of the East Africa community Electronic Transactions bill 2014.

Objective of this bill to make provision for the use, security, facilitation and regulation of electronic communications and transactions to encourage the use or e government service and to provide for related matters.

The legislators argued that this law was necessary to harmonise laws within the partner states in relation to electronic transactions

Mps including Odette Nyiramilimo, Mike sebalu, Susan Nakawuki and Nancy Abisai among others said this piece of legislation would help reduce cost of business in the region and enhance security.

However debate on the bill was last evening adjourned to the next plenary in Nairobi, to pave way for stakeholders to make additional input.
