Buganda Road Court Chief Magistrate James Ereemye Mawanda is this morning expected to give a ruling on an application by the Makerere University researcher Dr.Stella Nyanzi seeking to compel the DPP to commence trial for her cyber harassment case.
Nyanzi through her lawyer Peter Walubiri says she is currently out of employment having been suspended by Makerere University because of these pending charges thus impacting heavily on her finances.
But the Resident State Attorney Jonathan Muwaganya insists that the trial must start after the Constitutional Court has disposed of Nyanzi’s petition challenging the compulsory mental Treatment Act as it has a direct bearing on the DPP’s evidence.
Nyanzi is battling with accusations relating to cyber harassment and offensive communication against the person of the president whom she reportedly insulted on her official Facebook page.
